NAHRLS Steering Committee

The NAHRLS is establishing a Steering Committee in order to ensure strategic and timely advice for the successful operation of the scheme. The NAHRLS Steering Committee will support the NAHRLS in a number of ways, including:

  • Offering advice to the NAHRLS on enhancing operations and services to support efforts to improve the retention and distribution of nurses and allied health professionals across Australia;
  • Reviewing annual work-plans and priorities and provide advice;
  • Advising on monitoring and evaluation activities and review results;
  • Acting as a conduit for and to peak bodies to channel resources to support the scheme;
  • Providing advocacy for the NAHRLS within the health sector and keep the NAHRLS management informed of challenges or areas of concern.
  • Providing guidance and advice on cultural and clinical aspects associated with working in rural, regional and remote Australia.

Membership of the steering committee will be broadly representated by key respected bodies in the area of rural health, health workforce, nursing, midwifery and allied health and also aim to engage respected leaders and individuals who have relevant experience and skills.
